Our Story: Eco-Conscious Fashion Inspired by the Coast and Countryside of Devon
SeaNic: Sustainable Style, Inspired by Devon
At SeaNic, we don’t just make clothing and gifts – we craft stories, inspired by the breathtaking Devon landscapes that surround us. Our organic cotton t-shirts, hoodies, and lifestyle essentials aren’t just items you own; they’re a way for you to show your love for nature with pride. We specialise in sustainable clothing, stylish designs, and unique nature-inspired beauty.
Meet the Team and Our Mission
Born in Teignmouth in the summer of 2023, SeaNic is truly a family affair. I (Tony, pictured here enjoying the outdoors) handle the day-to-day running of the business and operations, while my wife, Nic, is the creative force behind every design. Our son, Arthur (now 7!), is our little helper and muse. Alfie, our lovely cat, also served an important role as our self-appointed material softness tester, and we still miss having him around SeaNic HQ. Together, we combine style with a clear commitment to sustainability and eco-conscious production.
🌊 Our Story: From a Christmas Gift to a Way of Life
SeaNic began with a simple Christmas gift.
One year, I bought Nic a small screen-printing kit—a box of screens, inks, and curiosity. The first thing she ever printed was a design she’d drawn herself, inspired by the journey of the River Teign flowing from Dartmoor down to the sea. That original design became Tor to Sea—and it remains the heart of everything we create.
What started as a thoughtful gift soon turned into a slow labour of love. We spent evenings experimenting with water-based inks in the kitchen, learning through trial and error, and falling in love with the process of making something real and lasting.
Over time, those first prints grew into SeaNic—our way of capturing the calm coast and countryside of Devon in designs you can wear and share. Every piece is hand screen-printed by us in our Devon studio onto high-quality organic cotton, made slowly and thoughtfully, just as we began.
SeaNic started with a gift—and it’s grown into a way of life: relaxed, creative, and inspired by nature.
Handcrafted Quality from SeaNic HQ
At our home studio – lovingly known as SeaNic HQ – each piece is crafted with care. Every t-shirt is hand screen-printed with eco-conscious inks, each paper cut art picture is carefully crafted, and each resin seascape is fashioned with the ocean’s serenity in mind.
You won't find mass-produced items here. No two are identical, because we believe that handmade slow fashion should carry the fingerprints of creativity. Every detail, every print, every swirl of resin holds a part of Devon’s soul.
SeaNic is for eco-conscious nature lovers who value the beauty of handmade items, the passion behind craftsmanship, and the uniqueness that comes from individuality.
Meet the Makers: Slow Fashion & Nature-Inspired Designs from SeaNic HQ
Tony, Operations, The Printer & Finnish Influence
Role: Keeping the business running smoothly, from managing orders and working with suppliers to packaging every garment and the hands-on screen printing of our products.
Devon Life: When I'm not in the studio, you'll find me trail running on Dartmoor, enjoying a wild swim in the sea near Teignmouth, or cycling one of the local routes. My Finnish heritage (my mum was from Joensuu in Eastern Finland) is why I value the clean lines and functionality that underpin all of Nic's designs as well as some of the less traditionally Britisdh animals we feature! My focus is ensuring SeaNic runs efficiently so we can remain as ethical and sustainable as possible.
Nic, Designer & The Creative Force
Role: Nic is the heart of SeaNic, responsible for all original designs and illustrations, the creative vision, and collaborating on the hand screen printing process.
Creative Vibe: Nic designs for SeaNic in her spare time, drawing on the same sense of care and precision she uses in her professional role as a pharmacist at Torbay and Newton Abbot hospitals. Her designs are always inspired by the immediate nature around us—the flow of the River Teign, the textures of the coast, and the wildlife in our garden. She loves the messy, unique process of hand screen printing and combining Yupo stencils with organic cotton, creating that calm, clean aesthetic we embrace at SeaNic HQ.
Arthur (Age 7), Muse, Chief Tester, and Budding Designer
Role: Primary inspiration for the children's line, quality control consultant, and budding designer whose drawings are occasionally worked into the SeaNic range.
Favourite Job: Arthur provides invaluable feedback on the softness of the fabrics and the comfort of the necklines after a serious day of outdoor play, reminding us why we do this: to connect with nature and enjoy simple, comfortable living. His drawings and ideas also give us a fresh perspective, ensuring the creativity stays central to our home studio.
